Attention: Michigan High
School Seniors
Is it your goal to play competitive hockey beyond high school?
If so, read on!
The Minnesota
Showcase replaces the old Chicago Showcase, which ended after 25 years of
operation, and will be held April 23-25, 2010 in Plymouth, Minnesota. Team
Michigan will select the top 20 qualifying high school seniors to represent our
state at the Minnesota Showcase. Over the years, Team Michigan has achieved
great success at the Chicago Showcase and we are confident that we will
continue to do so in Minnesota.
As its name
implies, the Minnesota Showcase will be one of the most heavily scouted high
school showcases in the United States. Your greatest opportunity to be exposed
to scouts and coaches from all levels of hockey (junior, college, and even
professional) could likely be at the Showcase.
If you want to go to the “next level”, Team Michigan and the Minnesota
Showcase may be your best bet.
This year’s
selection process will take place at an OPEN TRYOUT on March 26th –
28th at the DISC in Dearborn. This Open Tryout process puts the team
selection method in compliance with the MHSAA rules. This means if a player
participates he will not lose spring sport eligibility. Per MHSAA rules only players who participate in the Open Tryout are
eligible to be selected to Team Michigan.
Qualifying for
the Showcase:
The Minnesota
Showcase has a very strict set of qualifiers that must be met. Team Michigan
has a parallel set of rules also. In
order to qualify you must meet the following criteria:
· Be a graduating
Michigan high school senior
· Compete in, at
least, 75% of your team’s 2009-2010 games
· Be chosen to
represent Michigan at the Open Tryout March 26-28, 2010
· USA Hockey Registration
for Showcase Team Eligibility required
· Participate in
Team Michigan Training Camp, April 16-19 and April 21st
The
deadline for applications to Tryout for Team Michigan is March 18th, 2010.
Team
Michigan has a web site with a printable application. The web site will be
constantly updated with information regarding the tryout and the Minnesota
Showcase.
